Martin assisted Financial Technology, Inc. (FinTec) in signing an office lease in East Lansing, MI on February 18, 2020.

The space is 6,808 SF and located in University Place at 333 Albert Avenue. FinTec will occupy a portion of the 66,000 square-foot center with the Marriott Hotel, Willingham Cote, and several other co-tenants.

FinTec is an established financial services firm that specializes in employee benefit plans and professional wealth management. The company currently serves over 1,500 individuals and 300 organizations. FinTec works with clients in several industries including banking, law, education, government, and other fields.

“We are extremely excited about University Place becoming our new home,” said John Gingas, President of Financial Technology. After a long and exhaustive search, we settled on this property given the amenities it will offer our employees and clients.”

According to C. Richard Herrold, Chairman of FinTec, “This move demonstrates our confidence in the future of our firm as well as the vibrancy of East Lansing. This is really appropriate as we celebrate our 40th year!”

University Place is situated north of Grand River Avenue and is located in the center of downtown East Lansing just north of Michigan State University’s campus. University Place was built in the late 1980’s and was part of a major project consisting of the hotel and MAC Avenue parking deck.

Eric Sudol, manager and representative of the ownership group CP University Place said “we are proud to have Financial Technology join our tenant family. They will be a wonderful addition not only for University Place but to downtown East Lansing. It is important for East Lansing to have a base of businesses and people to provide synergy in the downtown area.” FinTec will occupy the majority of the 4th floor and the space will be completely remodeled for their use.

“Quality tenants like Financial Technology are vital to our overall success as we build a quality environment for everyone to take advantage of,” stated George LaHanas, East Lansing City Manager. It is expected that occupancy will occur by July 1 of this year. Eric Rosekrans, CPM, CCIM from Martin Commercial Properties acted as a transactional coordinator for this deal.
